Stand Up, Sit Down, Repeat

Robert Propst designed a cross between a stool and a chair called a “perch.” George Nelson liked standing around at work and figured others probably did, too. He designed a stand-up, roll-top desk. Both knew the benefits of standing while working before the term “ergonomics” was widely understood.

Research bears out what these designers knew intuitively: Variety and movement at work are healthful. It’s a principle we incorporate into many of our products, including ergonomic chairs and height-adjustable tables. Because we know when people feel better, they do better work.
